First Step Housing was started to fight the housing crisis by real estate accountant Devery Robb. Studies show the era of home ownership is slowly fading away, this can be seen over the past 22 years as the median home price has increased nearly 160% with median rents not far behind at about a 99% increase. In that same time period inflation has totaled over 60% all while the median pay has increased just a fraction of those numbers. If we keep at this rate homes will soon be unattainable to most americans. We want to help keep the dream of homeownership alive. To do this we offer several programs which include paying for college students room and board, paying for individuals' rents, and offering down payment assistance. We also act as real estate owners and developers by offering apartments with attainable rents for the average paid employee. One of the organization's main focuses is to bring back the starter home by offering new construction homes in desirable subdivisions with prices starting in the $200ks. We can not do all of this alone though, we need the support from our amazing donors to help us reach our goal of assisting over 1000 families and 2500 individuals by 2030.
To have provided attainable housing for 1000 families and 2500 individuals by the year 2030.
To help put an end to the housing crisis across the Lehigh Valley and the United states by developing and providing attainable housing to all individuals no matter what stage of life they are in.

People are often confused by the difference between attainable housing and affordable housing. Attainable housing can be afforded by people earning around the Area Median Income (AMI). Affordable housing is subsidized to allow people earning much less than the AMI to buy or rent a home.
